FATHERHOOD: NAVIGATING PARENTHOOD
The recent workshops on Black Fatherhood made me think about how a father’s presence is beyond just financial support, and can transform a child’s life. That moment pushed me to look deeper into what modern fatherhood truly means.
Let’s address the elephant in the room. Black fathers are often unfairly characterized as absent or uninvolved. That stereotype is both harmful and outdated. Research from the CDC shows that among fathers living with their children, Black fathers are more likely than white or Latino fathers to feed, bathe, dress, read to, and play with their kids on a daily basis.
