Growing a tiny human inside your body is legitimately amazing!

Your pregnancy is a time of incredible growth for you and your baby.

While it's filled with unforgettable moments, it can also be a time of uncertainty.

Whether you're a first-time parent or not, there's much to consider, and we're here to help.

The first three months of your pregnancy can be a time of wonderment and, at times, confusion as your body adjusts to this new journey.

It's normal to feel some stress as you prepare for the arrival of your little one.

So, what should you consider during these early weeks to prepare for your baby's arrival?

The First Trimester

Get Proper Nutrition

To nourish your baby properly, remember that "eating for two" is a myth. Doubling your portions is not necessary. For most average-weight pregnant women, 1,800 calories per day in the first trimester is enough. Talk to your doctor about your specific needs.

Eliminate Alcohol Intake

If you haven't already, it's important to stop drinking alcohol during pregnancy. According to the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), drinking during pregnancy can increase the risk of complications.

Reduce Caffeine Consumption

Being mindful of your caffeine intake is important during pregnancy. While moderate consumption (less than 200 mg per day) doesn't appear to be a major contributing factor in miscarriage or preterm birth, it's worth noting that just one 12 oz cup of coffee contains 200 milligrams of caffeine.

Drink Lots of Water

Drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water per day is important during pregnancy. Staying hydrated can reduce cramps, improve circulation, and help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Stop Smoking

Quitting smoking is crucial for the health of both you and your baby. Smoking during pregnancy can decrease the amount of oxygen that your baby receives, reduce their lung capacity, and even lead to low birth weight. This includes avoiding smoking marijuana or any other substances.

Switch to Clean Beauty Products

During pregnancy, it's important to be mindful of what you're putting on and inside your body, as your baby absorbs everything you're exposed to. While you might already have a skincare routine that you love, it's crucial to know which products are safe to use. There's some uncertainty about the safety of certain skincare products for moms-to-be, so many doctors and dermatologists recommend switching to healthier, non-toxic alternatives to err on the side of caution.
