WHEN GRIEF GOES HOME Supporting Families After Pregnancy & Infant Loss

Pregnancy and infant loss may occur in a hospital or clinical setting, but grief does not end when a family goes home.

In the days, weeks, and months that follow miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss, families may encounter nurses, physicians, mental health professionals, doulas, social workers, lactation professionals, faith leaders, funeral professionals, and others who each have an opportunity to make the path through loss a little more compassionate.

Join Nneka Hall, founder of the Pregnancy and Infant Loss Institute and PAIL Advocates, for an interdisciplinary introduction to pregnancy and infant loss support and the PAIL Advocates model.

Participants will explore the realities families may face following a loss, the roles different professionals and community supports can play, and practical principles for responding with greater compassion, cultural humility, and awareness. Nneka will also introduce the PAIL Advocates training program and curriculum, designed to prepare those who may encounter grieving families to provide informed support while remaining within their professional scope.

Because no single profession can meet every need of a grieving family, this conversation is intentionally designed to bring the entire circle of care into the same room.

Nurses may earn 1 continuing education contact hour.
Doulas may earn 1 contact hour.
