Monica M. Baynard, CPA

Treasurer

Monica is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the State of Wisconsin. She is the Senior Manager of the Corporate Accounting department of Buckeye Partners, LLC in Houston, Texas. Monica is also the owner of Matlock Investing, LLC, a real estate investment company. She currently serves her community as the Financial Secretary of the Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. (AKA), as Board member of the Ivy Educational Foundation of Houston, Inc. (IEACF) and now, as Treasurer of Birthing the Magic.

Monica values faith, family, and finances. She keeps God first, and her faith fuels her commitment to her husband Greg, to her Buckeye Partners team, and to her community organizations. Monica knows that hard work and exposure to opportunities pay off and finds value in every experience. She credits her family, her church, and Top Teens of America as the springboards for her sense of community service and introduction to business acumen. Though she is from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she decided to call Houston, Texas, home.

Monica was initiated in the Beta Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at Florida A&M University. Prior to being her AKA Chapter’s Financial Secretary, she served as Treasurer and Chairman of several committees including the Finance and Audit Committees. She also claimed a sorority award for her AKA Chapter several years ago by leading the collection and fundraising efforts for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The IEACF is a 501(c)(3) that focuses on raising and distributing funds for charitable, educational and scientific projects. Monica has served on the IEACF Board member for several years and has also served as Chairman for both the Audit and Investment Committees. Monica also displays her passion for generating scholarship funds for college students by serving on the IEACF Corporate Sponsors fundraising committee for its annual fundraisers.

Monica develops leaders for her employer as well as for the AKA. She and several of her teammates have been promoted since joining Buckeye Partners. She uses her influence to help the team focus on serving their customers and accomplishing their goals. She also used her leadership skills and AKA experience to lead the cross-functional team that implemented the accounting treatment and financial reporting package for the Buckeye Partners Foundation another 501(c)(3) organization. Monica has also been the Treasurer of her Homeowner’s Association Board and started Matlock Investing, LLC in 2010, where she has been learning and stretching herself as a real estate investor by providing homes to community residents.
